What We Believe

About God

God created the world out of love. Everything he does is motivated by love – a love that is described as the love of a good Father. You may have not had a great upbringing, so the idea of God as Father is a hard one to grasp, that’s okay. Our hope is that as you worship, connect and grow with us, you will come to experience the heart of God who loves you far beyond the ability of good fathers in this world. God created you, knows you and wants a relationship with you.

About Jesus

The Bible teaches us if you want to see God, just look at Jesus. There are four books in the Bible that tell us all about Jesus. They are Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. If you do a quick google of any of those, you can read them online. So check them out. And read about how Jesus lived, how he died and how he rose again. As incredible a claim as it is, we believe that Jesus is not dead, but alive. You may be skeptical–no problem. Come and join us anyway and decide for yourself who Jesus is and what that might mean for your life.

About The Holy Spirit

Jesus taught his students or followers(which in the Bible are called disciples) that when he had raised from the dead and then gone into heaven, that he would send us a Friend and Guide to help us in the between time, while we wait for him to return and set this world right. This Friend and Guide is the Holy Spirit. When you put your faith in Jesus, the Holy Spirit comes into your life and provides constant companionship, guidance and encouragement as you walk through life. At Prairie Creek, we put a high priority on the Holy Spirit and welcome the Spirit to do whatever he wants in us and in our gatherings of worship, connecting and growing together.

About The Holy Bible

We believe the Bible contains the very words of God as given to people from the beginning of time until the early days of the church way back in the 1st century. The Bible records what God has done out of his love for us and what he thinks and feels about you and me. It also shows us the way of salvation–the way to be delivered from the darkness, despair and evil around us.

About Salvation

We believe that every person has been affected, burdened, even chained up by this darkness, despair and evil. The Bible calls this darkness sin, and it is the thing that makes us do all the destructive to ourselves and others actions and behaviors that we so often find ourselves puzzled that we are doing. Sin has its hold on us, but God offers us a way out of it, through what Jesus did on the Cross. Jesus died on the cross for a purpose, so that we might be set free from sin and with sin, all the nasty, dark evil things that go along with sin like sickness, despair, corruption, injustice, and indifference to the needs of others. Salvation takes place in our life when we trust in Jesus and make a decision to follow him. If you would like to know more about this, we would love to share with you, listen to your questions and talk more about it.

About Communion & Baptism

As a church we celebrate two things as part of our worship that the church has been celebrating for thousands of years. One is called Communion and it refers to a meal that Jesus gave to his followers before he died on a cross. This meal consisted of bread and wine. At Prairie Creek, on a monthly basis, we participate in this meal by eating bread and drinking juice that connect us, even today, to what Jesus did on the cross for us.

We also do baptisms at our church. Baptisms are done for all ages. For babies and children, it is a way for parents and guardians to commit to raise their children in the faith and with the help of the church. We believe it takes a village to raise a child, and the vows we take in baptism support this belief. We also do baptisms for adolescents and adults. For them, baptism is a big part of their commitment to follow Jesus. It is a sign of what Jesus has done inside of them, coming out of the death of sin and being raised to life in Jesus.

These two special parts of worship in our church we believe hold real power to change lives. We believe the Holy Spirit works through these gifts to heal and to deliver people.
